Year 4
Welcome to Year 4! We are looking forward to an exciting year filled with opportunities to learn, explore and develop new skills. We encourage our children to be curious, independent and enthusiastic learners, both in school and at home.
Reading at home is an important part of our children’s learning. We ask that children read at least three times a week and record their reading in their reading records. Regular reading helps to build confidence, develop vocabulary and support understanding across the curriculum.
In Maths, children will be working hard to develop their multiplication knowledge. We encourage everyone to regularly use Times Tables Rock Stars to practise and build their speed and confidence. Throughout the year, we will be learning all of the multiplication tables in preparation for the Year 4 Multiplication Check in June. Short, regular practice at home can make a big difference!
Spellings will be sent home weekly, giving children the opportunity to practise the words and patterns they are learning in school.
Our wider curriculum will provide plenty of opportunities for practical and exciting learning. In Geography, children will carry out fieldwork exploring our local area, developing their understanding through real-life experiences. In History, we will enjoy hands-on lessons, using practical activities and historical evidence to bring the past to life.
We are excited to see the children grow in confidence, knowledge and independence throughout the year. With support from school and home, we hope Year 4 will be a happy, rewarding and memorable year for everyone!
