Spanish

Learning a foreign language provides children with the opportunity to learn about different cultures. Spanish at Park Brow broadens children’s knowledge of the world around them and allows them to express their thought and ideas in another language. Children learn to understand and respond both in speech and writing.

End KS 2

At the end of KS 2 pupils will have developed the confidence to understand, speak and write Spanish to become all round global citizens. We aim for our pupils to develop an awareness of cultural differences and develop a tolerance of diversity within society.

Our pupils  will have developed a love of learning a new language and will use this to enhance opportunities for success at Secondary level and beyond. (low uptake of GCSE in MFL at Secondary)

Our Spanish curriculum aims to ensure all children:

  • understand and respond to spoken and written language from a variety of authentic sources
  • speak with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity, finding ways of communicating what they want to say, including through discussion and asking questions, and continually improving the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation
  • can write at varying length, for different purposes and audiences, using the variety of grammatical structures that they have learnt
  • discover and develop an appreciation of a range of writing in the language studied

Spanish Superstars

Children across Key Stage 2 have been recognised for their hard work, dedication and achievements in Spanish lessons. The children were awarded certificates for excellent presentation, thorough understanding and super effort within their work. Well done everyone!
